Should we have an accident or durability issue we knew we wouldn’t be able to replace just one container with out having to buy an entire set. Accidents happen (some times a lot in our house). We were also concerned about the covers not fitting, accidents such as dropping a food filled container on the floor and it shattering. This is caused by removing the glass from extreme cold to heat such as removing freezer stored leftovers and placing the container into the microwave or oven (a benefit of most glass storage containers is being able to put them in the oven). Although Snapware had an overall high rating, several bad reviews stated how it was hard to snap on the lids and how some of the tabs ended up breaking off over time.Īlthough it appears to be rare, we decided against glass storage containers because of possible shattering and small sharp chips, and glass splinters. Upon reading reviews we determined that the tabs could become an issue and decided not to go with Snapware. The plastic certainly isn’t as thick as Rubbermaid. When I saw them at Costco I thought they seemed a little flimsy. The Snapware have tabs that snap in place, hence Snapware. We came across Snapware which had pretty high reviews they look cool but did not seem as durable as Rubbermaid easy lids. We decided to trust the manufacturer’s word. Although the only way to be absolutely sure a product is BPA free is to have lab test conducted. All products researched claimed to be BPA free so that was a non issue. There were concerns about plastic containers warping when exposed to heat like in the microwave or dishwasher.īreakage and BPA were concerns for us as well. No one wants to taste plastic when eating. We were concerned about stains, etching, odors, and plastic taste transfer. We researched different food storage container options including glass. We were happy with our Rubbermaid, but we wanted to explore all of our options. Years of microwaving, dish washing, and freezing, left some of our storage containers looking a little used and abused. We bought two Rubbermaid Easy Find Lids container sets years ago, and they are still in rotation. Sometimes the lids would pop off in the freezer, some of them warped in the microwave, and sometimes food would stain the plastic. It lasted a while with most containers still usable today.īut we were ready to phase out those old Ikea containers because they were a pain in the neck trying to find lids for. We purchased a set from Ikea once upon a time because it was inexpensive. We had a couple sets at that time, and there was an obvious difference in quality between them. We decided to buy new food storage containers recently. Note: ProPaint™ Neon shades are for hair and nails only. It washed off easily in the shower and did not irritate my very sensitive skin. In the second half of the workshop, Andrew Honey gave us a thought-provoking overview of binding. The knowledge and awareness of these systems allows us to be able to spot ‘mistakes’ or inconsistencies in quire structures – are there any leaves missing or have any been added? Are there any ‘singletons’ (folded leaves that are missing their second half)? These details can point us towards the decisions made by the scribe, with regards to the placement of extra text or inserted decorative elements, and help us raise questions about how and why a certain MS was put together. JL 867, a collection of seven bookbinding finishing tools, used on bindings commissioned by Thomas and Richard Rawlinson We were introduced to ‘catchwords’ and leaf or bifolium signatures, which were used to number sheets in alphabetical numerical sequence. Following folding, and prior to writing, scribes would fasten the quire temporarily (a process known as quire tacketing) and then number the quires to keep them in order before assembly and binding. Due to the uneven texture of parchment – which, due to its animal origins, has a ‘hair side’ and a ‘flesh side’ – there are two approaches to folding the quires: in continental Europe, parchment was folded so that hair side would face hair side when the MS is open, whereas scribes from the British isles favoured the ‘insular’ method of arrangement, wherein the parchment sides would alternate, with hair side facing flesh side and vice versa. Having learnt about parchment production in the last session, we were now guided through how four full or half-sheets of parchment (and later paper) can be folded together to form a quire. The provenance of the manuscript from the circles nearest to the emperor himself explains the magnificent design of the book.In our ‘Structures of the manuscript book’ seminar last week, we continued our foray into understanding how manuscripts come together – focusing in this session on the journey from sheet to codex to bound book.Īll of us browse, read, and generally handle books in our daily and academic lives, and a few of us are perhaps aware of the details of how these objects are put together – though the first half of this workshop, led by Matthew Holford, made us confront this intricate process. Bischoff discovered that the writing must be of the hand of the learned Irish monk Dungal, who had been invited to the continent by Charlemagne. The corrector's adjustments are easily recognizable, because he used another script, the so-called Insular script, which originated in England and Ireland. One alteration on the presented page, folio 22r., immediately catches the eye, because the corrector replaced one single line by two new ones, marring the layout of the page in the process. This is what the corrector of this Lucretius manuscript did. In the case of parchment this is not difficult, for the writing is easily scratched out with a knife. Of course it was desirable to save the book's appearance as much as possible. At other times the corrector would use his own judgment. Sometimes this was done by comparing the copied text carefully with the exemplar, the book which served as a model for the copy. As happened so often, this original manuscript was corrected afterwards. The ample spacing does full justice to the excellent Carolingian minuscule, the new script which was developed towards the end of the 8th century. In spite of its large dimensions, the page counts only twenty lines. This manuscript distinguishes itself by the spacious layout of the page. The two manuscripts that have come down to us from that period are now both kept in Leiden, where for the sake of distinction they have been named after their dimensions the codex quadratus (the square manuscript) and the codex oblongus (the rectangular manuscript). Characteristically, the text was copied at least twice in the first half of the 9th century, when all things from Antiquity were collected as fully as possible. It is therefore not surprising that his work was hardly ever read in the Middle Ages. The Roman poet Lucretius (94(?)-55 BC) wrote it to convince his audience that man need not fear the whims of the Gods or punishment in the hereafter, because the universe is governed by mechanical laws. De rerum natura (On the Nature of Things) is an unusual poem as to its content. To add a client to the client portal, within the Client > Details tab, select Start Setup. To register, go to PowerShell Saturday #007.ĭD, to answer your question, I decided to write a custom Windows PowerShell function to retrieve the file metadata. It is truly a special event, and you do not want to miss it. The lineup of speakers is really top shelf, and the subjects vary from beginner to advanced, with a special emphasis on Windows PowerShell scripting and security. If you have not gotten your ticket yet, you need to do so ASAP before they are all gone. In just a few days it will be time for Windows PowerShell Saturday in Charlotte, North Carolina. Microsoft Scripting Guy, Ed Wilson, is here. Can I get that type of information via Windows PowerShell? But when I go into a folder that contains music files, I see much more information, such as the name of the music group, the type of music, and how long the song will play. Hey, Scripting Guy! Getting basic file properties such as the file name, the size of a file, and the directory that a file resides in is pretty cool. Summary: Microsoft Scripting Guy, Ed Wilson, shares a function that gets file metadata, and then he writes the information to a CSV file. Thats quite the difference eh Guess i'll find out why on vm test install. Ps wow Bulk Crap is so large (109mbs) portable, Geek Uninstaller only 1.7mb compressed. (Everything 1.5a is worth installing instead of the "stable" release 1.4, as it IS more stable than the stable release, unsure why it hasn't been made current. In defense, (wow my feelings ) My recommendation was 2 fold, ASC or uninstaller are very easy to use for someone who may prefer such a UI & more so, io bits generates a saveable list of EVERY part of a softwares instal, saveable as a text file so you can manually insure any leftovers are found by the other recommend app, "Everything" via its simple to use / easy to see search option & display & its free. I think ever since io bits unlocker i've taken a shine to their apps - all in free mode are more than enough for most users - same with sordum 's tools/util's fix : dont click emīut as we know theres a 100s of apps doing more or less the same thing, some better than others, some more complicated than they need be (i'll take a gander at your suggestions, may replace io bits uninstaller although ASC is useful (alongside CCleaner, Glary's as they all seem to miss things the others don't.) Only time I see ads in any io bit software is when clicking the "pro" options. I'm positive IO Bits apps don't spam ads - they have pop ups assking if you wish to update (not recommended for iFun screen recorder as the newer version has a watermark and less features but is a really good screen recorder for free) than asking if you wish to update. Shortening them will fix that issue - there's other ways but having asytem of foldering with short be concise names works a treat, and provides an already structured means of finding your music within musicbee via computer folder tree etc.Īs said to remove all Musicbee's leftovers the free tool (which is far better than windows explorer anyway, called "EVERYTHING" will help you locate. Jimi Marley Exponentially Experienced beyond Belief - Oh my what a really long name.mp3"Īs you can assume it's already well over 255 characters anmd simply will not be read. Then inside that are the tracks titled :. "The Jimi Hendrix Experience - whatever the album name (Publisher - catalog number) year 196X (mp3)" "Music from the 60's" then inside that is (?) Ie including your C drive + whatever folder name eg Music then thats inside another folder (?) If they do then they wont be read, so you'll need to shorten "something" - folder path, folder name or the track title Insure your folder & filenames character totals do not exceed 255 characters Then run ASC's uninstal option, it will remove everything, anything left can be located using another free app called "Everything" - remove all by hand if necessary.Īll the above maybe not be necessary it may simply be due to windows 255 character limitation. Reinstall musicbee, ASC will now collect the installation data on ALL files installed, and export a list of everything. Itunes? on windows - we have to help you from this terrible cicumstance.Ģ options (2nd option is easiest to disagnose)Ĭonsider trying IO Bits ASC (exceptionally useful even in free mode - dont get caried away with installing all it offer although may of the tools I use from there are good for this purpose not essential), Include your major (unless undecided), GPA, and school activities. MagSafe will dynamically optimize power delivered to the iPhone. The MagSafe Duo Charger is designed to negotiate the maximum power up to 9 volt (V) and 3 amp (A) with a USB PD compatible power adapter. If you happen to place your iPhone on the MagSafe Duo Charger before plugging into a power source, remove your iPhone from the MagSafe Duo Charger, wait three seconds, and then put it back on to resume maximum power delivery. This allows MagSafe to verify that it's safe to deliver maximum power. It's important to plug into a power source before placing your iPhone on the MagSafe Duo Charger. For iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini, the MagSafe Duo Charger delivers up to 12W of peak power delivery. The actual power delivered to the iPhone will vary depending on the wattage of the power adapter and system conditions. The system intelligently adapts to conditions to optimize charging your compatible iPhone at up to 14W of peak power delivery. That's fine for overnight charging, but if you want something faster, a 7.5W option charges faster. The MagSafe Duo Charger is designed to quickly and safely wirelessly charge your iPhone 12, iPhone 13, or iPhone 14 and your Apple Watch simultaneously. Nylon braiding reduces tangling look for reinforcements where the cable meets the connector, as that’s where cables tend to fray.įinally, if you want a wireless charger, it's worth bearing in mind that many wireless chargers deliver 5W. Meanwhile, when choosing a charging cable, durability is key. For fast charging (iPhone 8 onwards), you’ll need 18W or more and USB-C, not the older, more common USB-A. If you're looking for a charging block, power and ports matter. Most standalone charging pads expect you to provide the actual charger brick, and can’t deliver more power than you put into them – so even if an iPhone wireless charging pad can deliver 7.5W, it can’t do that if you’re plugging it into a charger that only gives it 5W. Most wireless iPhone chargers deliver 5W or 7.5W and work through most iPhone cases. Wireless isn’t always as fast, but it’s more convenient. What's the difference between wireless and wired charging? Whether you’re a road warrior or a box set binger, these chargers, cables and pads are the best ways to keep your iPhone powered up. We’ve chosen them based on three key criteria: quality, usefulness and value for money. The options above are our favorite iPhone charging blocks, iPhone charging cables and wireless iPhone charging pads, so they're a good place to start. However, it's worth bearing in mind that Apple is expected to abandon the Lightning port with the iPhone 15 line. Just remember that we mean USB-C plugging into the charger, and Lightning on the other end of the cable to plug into the iPhone. That’s where everything is heading, so USB-C is future-proofed and backwards compatible. It’s also wise to go for USB-C even if you don’t need it right now. A more powerful one may be a better option for your future tech arsenal. For example, an 18W charger will fast charge your iPhone, but it’s not powerful enough to run a MacBook Pro. Look at what you want to do now, and what you might want to do next year. What type of iPhone charger is for you? How to choose the best iPhone charger for youĭon’t just look at the price. Still, cost aside this is one of the best iPhone chargers. Just don't count on it coming with a power adapter or cable because, of course, it doesn't, so that’s potentially yet another expense you’ll have to factor in if you somehow don’t already have one. It's expensive for what it is but as is always the way with Apple products, you'll grudgingly realize why. The magnets mean it's firmly attached with the battery pack capable of charging via a 27W or higher charger such as those with a MacBook, or there's the option to use a Lightning cable for up to 15W of wireless charging. Simply attach it to the back of your iPhone and you're good to go. It’s slick, simple, and very Apple. Utilizing the iPhone 12, 13, and 14 range's method of using magnets to perfectly align everything, the MagSafe Battery Pack looks great.
